The file played just fine - no audio problems. Then i fired the same file back up in wmp and now only AC3 shows under filters for audio. I corrected this by going into ffdshow codecs menu and disabling AC3 and DTS and unticked " mixer". Looked in filters menu and AC3 and FFDshow were both being used (i have to say there were no audio problems playing the file in mpc even when AC3 and ffdshow were both being used)!!

I removed all the filters in mpc and then fired up a 1080p mkv. When you talk about everything running fine in "external" players, have you only tried MPC? The reason I ask, is because by default MPC will be using its own internal filters, and not those available to the rest of the system, eg Media Portal. I'll select use automatic decoder settings in MP aswell and see if that helps.

I will disable all internal filters in MPC (how do i do this?). If you disable all the internal filters in MPC, and also configure Media Portal to use "automatic decoder settings" then what you see in MPC should be what is running in Media Portal. The fun part is working out what filters are being used in Media Portal. How do you have AC3filter configured? Have you set it to output all audio to SPDIF without altering it for AC3 and DTS output? I havent configured it to use SPDIF as i dont use SPDIF. mkv's and not all) However, AC3 is my "prefered decoder" I will try turning DTS off in MPC (i should point out that this only comes when on certain. If you go into the MPC options, you can turn the DTS off, and let AC3filter handle all audio output. I think you'll find that this is an internal filter for MPC. Ok, the DTS decoder is NOT part of AC3filter. Use an "external player" which i can control within MP using MCE Remote. Fix the problem some how so MP's built in player plays the 1080p files without audio problems.Ģ. I've tried using FFDShow and AC3 but the problem with the audio is still there.ġ. So this suggests its only a problem with MP's own built in media player. If i play the same files directly in WMP Classic or WMP 11 they play with no audio problems.

If i change the config in MediaPortal so it uses an " external player" to Windows Media Player Classic, then the audio problem is no more and sound is perfect - no blips or cracking! BUT the flaw with this is that i cant control WMP Classic with the MCE remote The reason for this is because i can use my MCE remote with it perfectly. I am using MediaPortal's own built in media player to play ALL my movies. On close inspection of putting my ear against the speakers the sound sounds some what muffled. The blips are more noticeable when there is a scene with more bass or loud sounds. I can hear little blips and some cracking. Right, the problem i am having is when i play a 1080p (and some 720p) files within MediaPortal the audio quality is pants.

Problem is with some 720p files and ALL 1080p. Problem is Audio related (and not graphic related)Ģ.
